My Year To Thrive

Success, Success, & Not So Much Today

Winged Potato

I made this tonight for a friend after a random comment of “give your potato wings”. My mind comes up with the craziest stuff. Even I don’t know what it means. She calls herself a potato body-wise, so I think it’s about being free & hopeful. Everytime I look at this potato it makes me happy. It truly evokes a sense of freedom & hopefulness for me. Doesn’t the potato look blissful?

SUCCESS #1:  Today was W1D2 of the Run a 5K in 100 Days program for me.  Hurray!  It went very well & I even added some extra walking before & after to get my exercise time up to 1&1/2hrs.  I run nearly as slow as I walk, so it was about 3.5miles in total.  I averaged about 2.5mph, usual for me.

Tonight we had the #5Kin100days chat on Twitter.  Met some of the other newb runners at various stages in the program.  It was fun.  Followed some new peeps & some new blogs.

SUCCESS #2:  Today was day 1 of my sugar free 7 day chip.  It wasn’t too hard, but I did have some moments when the idea of getting something sweet crossed my mind out of habit.  The first day is always the easiest, but it’s the 2nd or 3rd day when the withdrawals set in & it starts to get difficult.  Not looking forward to that.

NOT SO MUCH:  Since I way overindulged this week, I saw a 1.4lb gain at Weight Watchers despite my exercise efforts.  I’ve talked about it.  I expected it.  I’m not really surprised or too disappointed.  Would have rather seen a loss of course, but that’s not how it works.

This week I will avoid sweets & eat more balanced & healthfully.  Not only will I continue with my running & walking, but I will also be starting the twelve week slim down challenge at the local gym.  That starts Monday morning & will be one hour three mornings a week.  It’s a small group of women working with a rotating schedule of personal trainers, & it is meant to push you.  They can’t promise I won’t throw up, but they do promise not to yell at me ala Jillian on The Biggest Loser.

And a little bonus good news (for me, probably doesn’t matter to anyone else), I was retweeted twice today:)  Being retweeted makes me freakishly happy, even if I’m not all up in Twitter’s grill.  I’m going to repost them here, because I can;~)

This first one was the evening call for gratefuls from ViR:

MY2Thrive despite myself
@VoiceinRecovery i am #grateful for the chance in life to heal, to move forward & become a stronger, better person.
The second one (well second here, it was actually tweeted earlier) was just a silly reply to a retweet of PsychCentral’s link by Psychfeed:
MY2Thrive despite myself
any 6yo could have told you that:) night light anyone?@psychfeed @psychcentral Lab Studies Show that Light Reduces Fear
Yay! Twitter likes me:)
