Speed Laces!

You know you’re getting old when you stoop to tie your shoelaces & wonder what else you could do while you’re down there.
~George Burns (Brainy Quotes)

My running shoes with speed lacesSpeed laces FTW!

Here’s a post I’ve been meaning to write for a little while, speed laces (in case you hadn’t already guessed).  I gave up shoes that couldn’t be slipped on years ago – due to constantly running late in the mornings rather than age, but that hasn’t been an option for running shoes.  Until now… (sort of, they have actually existed for a while & I’ve been using them a couple of months).  I had actually pinned some on my running board a few months ago when I was pricing new running shoes, but it wasn’t until a couple of months ago I thought about looking for them locally.  I was inspired to go for it by this post by Cinnamon over at Salty Running.

I found them at The Shoe Department for $5.95, speed laces ibungee stretch laces.  They come in a variety of colors, so I was able to get gray to match my shoes.

I love them.  I have a terrible time getting my laces right when tying them, I often end up with them too tight & making my foot numb so I have to stop & retie them, or too loose so my shoe feels wrong & I have to stop to retie them.  Then they usually end up too tight & the cycle repeats.  With the speed laces it’s no longer a problem.  I never have to tie or untie my shoes, I just pull them on & kick them off.  Hurray!

And if you have big boobs or a big belly, or like me you have both, you know it can be a pain to get your shoes tied.

  2. Awesome J! I’m so glad my post helped someone else learn how cool these little contraptions are!

A great tip too is to tuck the little ends in through the top eyelets in your shoes (so they don’t flop around) and then back out an eyelet lower down (so they don’t end up chafing your foot). I don’t know about you, but the little floppy ends drive me nuts when they’re dancing around on my feet!

    • Oh man, did I get your name wrong? lol Obviously I even looked at the article & saw who wrote it, but just looked at the pic not the name. Let me fix that. I don’t know why I have it in my head you’re Ginger, but I think it has something to do with Gilligan’s Island.

    • Oh, & thanks for the tip! I got so caught up in being embarrassed about getting your name wrong I forgot to say that:) I tried tying them in a bow, but that felt stupid so I just let them hang.
