My Year To Thrive

"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." ~Maya Angelou

What you see in the mirror – The Oatmeal

This is a panel from the middle of a The Oatmeal cartoon.  “What you see in the mirror” is about perspective.  How we see ourselves isn’t always reality or how others see us.  As always, I encourage you to go check out the whole of it.

A friend of mine is having a hard time with her Depression right now, & that is a perfect example of perspective.  Depression puts a filter on your brain & tells you all sorts of shitty things.  That’s how it keeps you down.  It’s a constant battle to see the truth behind its lies.  One of Depression’s other ugly hooks into you is sapping your energy, which makes it even more difficult to fight.  It’s an insidious disease.  You need a lot of support at a time when your brain is telling you no one cares & it’s hopeless.  Don’t listen.  There’s always hope & there is always someone who loves you.
