“A season of loneliness and isolation is when the caterpillar gets its wings. Remember that next time you feel alone.”
~Mandy Hale, The Single Woman: Life, Love, and a Dash of Sass (Goodreads)
I have a few fun things happening on the blog in October:
I had a really good week. I’ve slept well, felt well, been mildly productive, & I have walked for ~40mins every day. I didn’t walk last Sunday, but I did work with my resistance bands.
I’m not getting into distances & speeds now because I’m getting some very different distances lately for the same laps. However, I’m walking the usual loop, so I can get a feel of it by total time & lap times. I’ve slowed down the last few days because of a large blister on my pinky toe. It doesn’t hurt, but I’m afraid of popping it. I downloaded an app tonight specifically for tracking GPS distances so I can hopefully get more accurate distance/times. I like Endomondo for my tracking, GPS accuracy seems to be an issue.
And, I’ve been drinking a lot of water. A lot. Since Monday I’ve only had two cups of soda, & I take my morning & evening pills with a Kool-Aid Jammer. Currently loving their seasonal Ghoul-Aid Jammers Scary Blackberry. It’s the best thing I’ve found for covering up the barn-floor taste of my vitamin & the something-else taste of my lamotrigine.
The only exciting thing going on right now is I’m finally moving next weekend. Yay! I’ll be in a larger area with a lot more available to me socially, more activity options, job opportunities, universities, being close to the clinic & support groups. I’m going to take swing classes & finally try my hand at stand-up! I’m also going to be beefing myself up to be competitive for applying to PhD programs. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, so if the going-back-to-work thing doesn’t workout I’m going for it sooner rather than later.
Oh yeah, plus I’m taking an online writing workshop, so I’ve been back to my writing. I’m at the end of the 3rd draft of my novel, & waiting to wrap the workshop up before I begin the 4th draft. I want to be able to apply my new found skills. I’ve also finally gotten started on a short story series I started planning a couple of years ago. Plus, we can’t forget NaNoWriMo is just around the corner! I’ll be resurrecting my Kolchak the Night Stalker story again. I’ll finish it eventually.
I decided to giveaway a bottle of Daily Energy B Complex this month (you can enter through Oct 2). From there I’ve decided to do a series of monthly giveaways. It will be something different each month. I’ll announce October’s prize soon.
For October I am going to issue an easy (for some people) challenge. Walk (run/ride/skate/whatever) thirty-one miles for the month. That’s just a mile a day. You don’t have to put them in every day, but at the end of the month you should have a total of thirty-one miles. There could be a treat in it for the people who finish.
While I’ve been walking the last few weeks, I’ve been thinking about when I want to transition to running. I’ve decided the time is in two weeks. Since I’m moving next weekend, now seems like an inopportune time to start. Anyone is welcome to join me, & if you are a member of Fit Fatties Forum, I’ve started a thread for it in the Running group. There’s already a few of us on board.
That is it for me. How was your week?
