"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." ~Maya Angelou

Anyone Can Be a Runner & Here’s Why

Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.
~Marcus Aurelius (Brainy Quotes)

Because anyone who says differently is an asshole & everybody knows asshole opinions don’t matter.

Upcoming New Running Game App: Run An Empire

My philosophy is: If you can’t have fun, there’s no sense in doing it.
~Paul Walker
(Brainy Quotes)

Reading a comment thread in the Fit Fatties Facebook group, I found a mention of Run An Empire. It’s a running game app (app game? story app? “strategy running game”), similar to Zombies, Run!.  The difference being, from what I can see — it’s still in closed beta, instead of earning items to build up your virtual zombie compound, you actually capture & defend the real world space you run through.

Still Here

Alas I am still without internet at the new place, but I’m trying to get the owner motivated in that direction. Sadly, he’s old & doesn’t care much for technology.

Did C25K wk 2, but a friend wants to start now so I’m starting over. I have been taking my housemate’s dog with me.

Hope you are all doing wonderful & planning on having a happy Halloween.

5 Lessons from Kids About Running | Salty Running

5 Lessons from Kids About Running – Salty Running

Still no interwebs at the house.  Looks like it’s going to be a couple of weeks.  Changed the password to my blog on my phone, but it didn’t sync to my  laptop OS & I couldn’t find out where it was hidden on my phone’s OS.  Finally figured it out today.  Brains!  They’re not just for zombie snacks.  So here I am with a very quick share for running week.

Have not been exercising because I’ve been in OMGChange mode, plus lazy, plus it has stormed all week so I haven’t gotten outside.  I need to get out & stalk a new running/walking area this weekend because I do still intend to start C25K on Monday.  I found the gym here, but then remembered I left my gym key with my dad because he’s working on my car.  I could go during office hours, but from their fb page the new manager seems all grrgrr gymgym weightsweights don’t be a big fat loser person so I’m just going to hide out until I get my key.  I’m pretty sure moving has to count for something as exercise.

From Lemongrass (which I’m allergic to btw) at Salty Running, five things she’s learned/remembered about running from her kids.

19 + 6 Reasons to Start Running

“There are as many reasons for running as there are days in the year, years in my life. But mostly I run because I am an animal and a child, an artist and a saint. So, too, are you. Find your own play, your own self-renewing compulsion, and you will become the person you are meant to be.”
~George Sheehan

I got moved yesterday.  Had my intake at the county MHC here today & see my new therapist later this week.  I also began the process of getting signed up with vocational rehab, so hopefully I can get a job here.  Sadly, there is no internet at the house yet, so I’m writing this from the library where I have to wear pants, & it’s hella cold, so this will be brief.

Since I’ll be starting C25K next Monday, I’ve decided to focus on running this week.  Yay!

Weekly Review: Sept. 21-Sept. 27, 2014

“A season of loneliness and isolation is when the caterpillar gets its wings. Remember that next time you feel alone.”
~Mandy Hale, The Single Woman: Life, Love, and a Dash of Sass (Goodreads)

I have a few fun things happening on the blog in October:

Another contest! (& there’s still time to enter the current one)
A Halloween mileage challenge
Start C25K

I had a really good week.  I’ve slept well, felt well, been mildly productive, & I have walked for ~40mins every day.  I didn’t walk last Sunday, but I did work with my resistance bands.

Prancercising for Health & Wellness

“Don’t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.” -John Wooden (Workouts 4 All)

Yesterday I was thinking about how so much focus is placed on yoga in research into physical activity for mental health (Yesterday & the day before are two examples).  Today a radio DJ brought up Prancercising.  This post just wrote itself.
