The HAES® Master Class, Sept 20-21

HAES Master Class

Welcome To The HAES® Master Class!

I received my Body Love Wellness email from Golda Poretsky the other day & in it was an announcement about the upcoming HAES Master Class, a two day online workshop with numerous speakers from the HAES-sphere.

In this HAES® Master Class you will meet the experts at the forefront of HAES® research and practice. Collectively, we’ve worked with thousands of people just like you, who have implemented HAES® principles and no longer face a daily battle with food, weight, and the scale. In this engaging two-day event, you will discover simple ways to improve your health and well-being without the stress of dieting.

Along with Ms. Poretsky, the list of speakers will include Ragen Chastain (Dances With Fat, Fit Fatties Forum), Marilyn Wann (Fat!so?, pictured above), Linda Bacon, Anna Guest-Jelley (Curvy Yoga), & Jeanette DePatie (The Fat Chick, Fit Fatties Forum).  There will be sixteen leaders of the HAES movement speaking in all.

Tickets are $97, or you can pay in two installments of $48.50.  I can’t do it, but if anyone does I would love to hear how it goes!

Fat: The Owner’s Manual by Ragen Chastain (Now name your own price.)

Fat: The Owner's Manual

Fat: The Owner’s Manual – Navigating a Thin-Obsessed World with Your Health, Happiness, and Sense of Humor Intact

Buy the Book!

I haven’t read it yet, so this is not a review, but I saw today the ebook is now name-your-own-price so any budget can access this book.  For the money crowd, you can still purchase the softcover for $14.99 + s&h.

For those not familiar with Ragen, she is an activist for Health At Every Size & Size Acceptance. She blogs at Dances with Fat & co-founded the Fit Fatties Forum.  Not only is she a speaker, writer, blogger, & promoter of fitness for all sizes, she is also a dancer & choreographer with three National Dance Championship wins.

I suppose if you’re going to listen to anybody talk about how being fat isn’t a synonym for being lazy & out of shape it might as well be her.

Fit Fatties: Fat Happy Runners

Gordon: Go on then, run!
Dennis: Isn’t there some kind of like… special technique?
Gordon: Well… yeah… you put one leg in front of the other over and over again really really fast.
“Run, Fatboy, Run” (IMDb)

Happy healthy woman running to music

This came from a dusty region of my hard drive, so no idea where it came from, sorry.  And no, she’s not fat, but she’s about twice the size of the other women runners I have pics of . *le sigh*

While I’m thinking about it, the Fit Fatties Forum has a growing group for runners.  The site is still new, but there’s already over 500 members & more every day.  New groups are being added & they just started a yoga group.

Just thought some other fat runners, or not so fat runners, might be  interested in an environment where we run because we love it & not as a means to weight loss.  Diet talk & weight worry free!
