My Year To Thrive

"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." ~Maya Angelou

5 Lessons from Kids About Running – Salty Running

Still no interwebs at the house.  Looks like it’s going to be a couple of weeks.  Changed the password to my blog on my phone, but it didn’t sync to my  laptop OS & I couldn’t find out where it was hidden on my phone’s OS.  Finally figured it out today.  Brains!  They’re not just for zombie snacks.  So here I am with a very quick share for running week.

Have not been exercising because I’ve been in OMGChange mode, plus lazy, plus it has stormed all week so I haven’t gotten outside.  I need to get out & stalk a new running/walking area this weekend because I do still intend to start C25K on Monday.  I found the gym here, but then remembered I left my gym key with my dad because he’s working on my car.  I could go during office hours, but from their fb page the new manager seems all grrgrr gymgym weightsweights don’t be a big fat loser person so I’m just going to hide out until I get my key.  I’m pretty sure moving has to count for something as exercise.

From Lemongrass (which I’m allergic to btw) at Salty Running, five things she’s learned/remembered about running from her kids.

When Training Slips, Watch the Self Talk | Salty Running

Forgiveness for our setbacks is one of the most important gifts we can give ourselves as runners, but it’s also one of the most difficult parts of our training. For me, it helps to remember that I run because I want to be a better person, not just a faster athlete, and the person I want to be loves herself and prioritizes her physical and mental well-being.

When Training Slips, Watch the Self Talk – Salty Running

The sun is out & the weather is warming up, so I’m challenging myself to be a better blogger & get back to a regular exercise routine.  For the month of April I will be blogging daily & taking a walk.  I currently feel like arthritis has taken over my body, so gentle daily exercise is especially important now.

I have been very irregular with getting my exercise in for a the last few months (okay, several months), so this article from Cinnamon over at Salty Running seemed apropos.  We all have setbacks, & beating yourself up over it does nobody any good, least of all you.  So be gentle, be forgiving, & be inspired to keep trying.

There is a Japanese proverb that fits here: “Fall down seven times & stand up eight.”

Speed Laces!

You know you’re getting old when you stoop to tie your shoelaces & wonder what else you could do while you’re down there.

My running shoes with speed lacesSpeed laces FTW!

Here’s a post I’ve been meaning to write for a little while, speed laces (in case you hadn’t already guessed).  I gave up shoes that couldn’t be slipped on years ago – due to constantly running late in the mornings rather than age, but that hasn’t been an option for running shoes.  Until now… (sort of, they have actually existed for a while & I’ve been using them a couple of months).  I had actually pinned some on my running board a few months ago when I was pricing new running shoes, but it wasn’t until a couple of months ago I thought about looking for them locally.  I was inspired to go for it by this post by Cinnamon over at Salty Running.

Some Of My Favorite Shares From My Facebook Page

There is no specific definition of “beauty.” I can see beauty in a woman of any color, nationality and yes, of any size! Remember, the most beautiful part of who you are is not what the human eye can see. What really makes you beautiful comes from within you and shows up in the way you treat others and the way you treat…yourself.

It doesn’t matter which one you are… JUST RUN!

I’ve been wanting to do this for a few weeks, because I share a lot of things on my page I don’t use here, & I thought it would be nice to blog a list of my favorites from each week.  Here some of them, but I make no promises it will actually happen each week -_-   I have a bit of a build-up, so I thought I’d practice my in-page jumps & make a little list.
